Art
All staff in Greenfields Primary School strive for the same goal for all children to have equitable opportunities to explore their creative potential and produce work which reflects this with the skills and techniques taught across their school journey.
To ensure a high-quality, broad and balanced curriculum, we use Kapow Primary as the basis of our art and design curriculum. Following this, all children are given the opportunity to develop their artistic skills and techniques, articulate and be exposed to evaluative and analytical language of their own and others' work, explore a range of different artists, craft makers and designers, as well as different historical and cultural developments of art forms.
You can find the Art Connected Curriculum Overview here.
Each curriculum topic is developed upon the basis of one of four themes: drawing, painting and mixed media, sculpture and 3D, and craft and design. These develop practical, theoretical and disciplinary art skills. The curriculum has been carefully planned out to ensure each child’s journey throughout their seven years at primary school builds on each skill, knowledge and technique progressively.
